Al Potter, originally from Windham, Maine, is a creative problem-solver and innovative thinker currently studying at Princeton University. He graduated as valedictorian of Windham High School’s Class of 2023, where he was Class President and served as a Student Representative on the RSU14 School Board, advocating for student voices on key issues like book banning and COVID-19 policies. During his time there, he also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, completing a solar-powered greenhouse project that combined his technical skills with a commitment to sustainability.
At Princeton, Al channels his passion for learning and collaboration into academics, creative endeavors, and leadership roles. He co-founded Physics 2 Astrophysics, a global online program that bridges the gap between high school physics and astrophysics, empowering students from diverse backgrounds to explore the universe. Beyond the classroom, he manages Princeton’s Visual Production Studio, where he trains students on professional video equipment and ensures smooth operations for academic and personal projects.
A lifelong lover of technical theater, Al has honed his skills over six years in lighting design and stage production. At Princeton, he serves as Lighting Designer and Head Electrician for the Princeton Triangle Club, crafting professional-grade lighting solutions for shows across the East Coast. As Chief Technology Officer for Theatre Intime, he has spearheaded major upgrades to lighting and sound systems, supporting student designers and enhancing the creative environment. His talents also extend internationally—during a Princeton Global Seminar in Gesualdo, Italy, he collaborated with Broadway artists and local technicians to produce a bilingual musical, navigating cultural and technical challenges while strengthening his Italian language skills.
When he’s not studying or designing stage lighting, Al enjoys restoring vintage technology, particularly speakers, blending his engineering expertise with an appreciation for music. Whether reading academic journals, producing technical theater, or engaging in community-focused projects, Al approaches every endeavor with creativity, precision, and a desire to make a meaningful impact.
